There are actually two Little India areas in Manhattan. This one is on Lexington Avenue in the 20s and 30s. My top two favorite Indian restaurants in the area are:
Hyderabadi Zaiqa – 184 Lexington Ave, New York, NY 10016 (Hyderabadi biryani & regional dishes; Michelin-featured)- I am super lucky that this one is right near where I live on 31st and Lexington. It is not too good for my diet, but it is perfect for my taste buds. My favorite dish is Chicken Tikka – and you can’t forget to eat the PERFECT Naan. Totally affordable but now that it is Michelin featured, I hope they don’t raise prices. No Liquor License
Saravanaa Bhavan – 81 Lexington Ave, New York, NY 10016 (South Indian vegetarian chain) – This too is a favorite, and it is really difficult to stop eating those Thalis. N Liquor License
Spice Symphony – 182 Lexington – A runner-up for me — it has really nice food and a full bar.
Here are a few Indian restaurants I haven’t eaten in, but have been rated highly on other sites.
Enjoy and make sure you let your waitstaff know how hot or mild you want your food!
