I really love this local neighborhood place.  I live next-door so it’s really convenient for me and honestly, the chocolate pudding is to DIE FOR if you are a chocoholic like me!  I also love Mediterranean food.  A bit pricey but worth it for a treat.

About

Leonetta’s is a vibrant, upscale-casual Mediterranean restaurant that brings the sun-drenched flavors and convivial spirit of Southern Europe to a chic, plant-filled space in the heart of Murray Hill. Helmed by an acclaimed chef, Leonetta’s is celebrated for its elevated, shareable plates, house-made pastas, and a menu that successfully blends traditional coastal techniques with a modern, New York sensibility, earning its solid 4 out of 5 stars from discerning local diners.

The Ambiance: Seaside Villa Meets Manhattan Chic
The restaurant’s design is transportive, modeled after a bright, breezy seaside villa. You are immediately enveloped by an atmosphere of warmth, marked by buttery yellow banquettes, olive-green accents, and over a hundred live plants suspended from the ceilings and placed in terracotta pots. It’s a sophisticated, inviting escape from the city hustle, making it perfect for a date night or a festive group dinner. Downstairs, the mood shifts to the intimate, dimly lit cocktail lounge, Leo’s Famous, a perfect hideaway for after-dinner drinks.

Leonetta’s menu focuses on a “pan-Mediterranean” philosophy, drawing inspiration from Greece, Italy, the Levant, and North Africa. The cuisine is fresh, ingredient-driven, and highly shareable, resulting in a number of standout dishes that consistently impress:

Highly Rated Starters & Spreads:
Stuffed Pita “Spanakopita” (4.5/5): A fan-favorite twist on the Greek classic. Instead of phyllo dough, a warm, golden pita is generously stuffed and oozing with a salty, savory mixture of feta and spinach. It’s a rich and addictive appetizer.

Black Garlic Hummus (4/5): Creamy, aromatic, and deeply flavorful. This take on hummus is a signature dish, praised for its nutty black garlic infusion and served with warm, freshly charred pita and focaccia.

Signature Mains & Pastas:
Black Truffle Mafaldine (4.5/5): This popular pasta dish features ribbons of house-made mafaldine tossed in a decadent mascarpone and Parmesan crema with wild mushrooms, offering a rich, earthy experience.

Grilled Dorade (3.5/5): A lighter, coastal option, typically praised for its flaky texture and served with bright, punchy ingredients like a tomato-caper vinaigrette and fennel salad, offering a taste of the Aegean. I love the SWORDFISH TOO!!

Dessert:
Olive Oil Semolina Cake (4/5): A light and dreamy finish. This cake is typically served with a delicate fior di latte gelato and a crisp pine nut-rosemary crumble, striking the perfect balance between sweet and savory Mediterranean flavors.
