New Directors/New Films 2026 returns for its 55th edition from April 8 through April 19, bringing a global showcase of emerging filmmaking talent to New York City. Presented by Film at Lincoln Center and The Museum of Modern Art, the festival continues its focus on bold, original voices shaping the future of cinema.
This year’s lineup features 24 feature films and 10 short films from more than 25 countries, including premieres and award-winning titles from major festivals such as Cannes, Sundance, Berlinale, Venice, and Toronto. Screenings take place at the Walter Reade Theater and MoMA’s Titus theaters, with many filmmakers attending in person for Q&As and discussions.
The festival opens with Leviticus, a genre-blending coming-of-age horror film by Adrian Chiarella, and closes with Donkey Days, a European co-production exploring family dynamics and identity. Across the program, audiences can expect a wide range of storytelling styles, from experimental narratives to socially driven dramas and intimate character studies.
In addition to screenings, New Directors/New Films offers a curated festival experience with tools like the Festiful planner to help attendees navigate schedules and build personalized watchlists. Ticket options include individual screenings, multi-film packages, and VIP passes for full access to the lineup and special events.
Now in its 55th year, New Directors/New Films remains a key platform for discovering the next generation of influential filmmakers, continuing its legacy of introducing audiences to voices that go on to shape global cinema.
