Top 20 Museums In Manhattan

List and locations of 20 famous museums in Manhattan

TIPS

Itineraries

I see so many itineraries that are so PACKED with things to do, you won’t have time to absorb anything you see.  That might be your style, but I am going to recommend that you slow down, get to spend some time in each place, so you really feel you saw something

This list is created in a location order, running from the top of Manhattan to the tip of Manhattan.  The intention is so that you can see one museum a day and play the rest of your travels around that area:  At least staying in one part of the city so you don’t run all other the place like a tourist.  Wait.  You are a tourist but you don’t have to act like one.

F.A.Q.

Important to Know

How long should I spend in each museum?

Well that kind of depends on what kind of museum goer you are.  I personally can spend at least 3 hours in the big ones, like Moma, the Met, and Natural History.  But small children might get bored.  And your feet might hurt.

Is there food in any of the museums? Café or coffee?

Yes, but you need to check the website.  The Museum of Natural History and the Met sure do.

Handicap Facilities

Yes, the majority do.  Please get in touch with the museum.

Transportation?

Most of these museums are near other bus or subway stations, but it depends on where you are coming from. You can also Uber or Taxi.
