After a historic run at Lincoln Center celebrating 50 years of Hip-Hop, J.PERIOD is back—bringing the same energy to the block with a dance party for the ages, celebrating movement and community. NYC summer, music up, bodies moving—popping, locking, breaking, and even a line dance or two. Expect special guests in the building, dance battles, and you might even have to step in and show what you got.

Brooklyn-based DJ and producer J.PERIOD is known for live “mixtape” sets that blend turntablism with a full band, reworking decades of hip-hop and R&B into one continuous performance rather than a standard DJ set. This Block Party edition leans into classic New York hip-hop culture, with crowd interaction and call-and-response energy closer to a backyard cookout than a concert hall. Free and open to the public, with standing room and limited bench seating around the plaza’s perimeter.
